GSSP
Zinzilban Section – located in the Kitab National Geological Park, it is a stratigraphic standard of global signi icance. It was designated in 1989 and rati ied in 1995 as the Global Boundary Stratotype Section and Point (GSSP) for the Pragian–Emsian stage boundary of the Lower Devonian. The section is notable for its rich fossil assemblage, including stromatoporoids (Simplexodictyon, Atelodictyon), tabulate and rugose corals (Favosites, Radiastraea), brachiopods (Devonochonetes, Gorgostrophia, Carinatina), trilobites (Scharyia, Acanthopyge), tentaculites (Nowakia), graptolites (Monograptus), and conodonts (Polygnathus, Pedavis). Recognized as a geological heritage site, the Zinzilban Section provides Kitab National Geological Park with international status.
